Youth Services

Johnny Gray Jones Youth Shelter provides safe, stable, short-term residential services to youth between the ages of 6 and 17.  Services are available for youth who have been abused, neglected, have runaway from home, who are having school-related problems, or youth in crisis for any other reason and need short-term respite care.

While in the care of the Shelter, the child and family work with a trained counseling staff to identify problems objectively and develop a plan to respond to the family’s needs.  In addition, ongoing groups are held at the Shelter to help young people to vent and deal with their problems as well as receiving life skills, and educational activities provided by a certified teacher with the Bossier Parish School Board.

The Shelter is the only facility of its kind in existence in Northwest Louisiana that  offers:

●around the clock emergency admitting services for law enforcement agencies in Northwest Louisiana.

●time to identify problems, make decision, complete required court proceedings, seek resources and make them available to the child.

●basic supervision and maintenance of the child in a caring atmosphere until an alternate placement can be decided
