HEAD START

The Bossier Office of Community Services’ Head Start Program provides a well-rounded educational program for pre-school aged children in Bossier Parish.  It is the aim of each staff member of Head Start to instill within each child a greater sense of dignity, self-esteem, and better mental processes and skills, particularly conceptual communicative skills.  The program is designed to meet the social, emotional, health, nutritional and psychological needs of the families.

CONTENT AREAS:

EDUCATION—The educational program is designed for each child’s needs.  It also aims to meet the needs of the community served and its ethnic and cultural characteristics.  Children receive learning experiences to foster intellectual , social and emotional growth

HEALTH— Early identification of health problems are achieved through services including medical, dental, mental health, and nutritional programs.
